chapter 20, 21, 22, 23
In these chapters we learned about the 20th century and what came from it. I found that evil began to prevail at this time, but from this evil we have also gained knowledge. Some of the main events that came from this era was : WW1 and WW2, The Holocaust, The Great Depression, Hiroshima, Fascism(Nationalism). Its so strange to see some of this happening today. In WW1 & WW2 anger and disgust began to appear, and a new form of racism began. Hitler tried to round his troops and have a successful genocide of the Jewish people. Although he was unsuccessful, many Jewish men, women and children did die from horrible deaths. When Americans found the concentration camps, the survivors could barely move. They had been starved and beaten, and looked like skeletons. Its crazy to think there are still people in this world that have this type of mindset. I'm afraid for our future, and what evil will be shown. In WW2 the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and the dropping of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima happened. It was a devastating time, and I grew up knowing family that fought in this war. Its unbelievable to hear the stories that occurred, and to know there are many that came back with some sort of mental trauma. Its sad to think it took an atomic bomb to end the war, but can you imagine if it hadn't? What would of happened next? I hear North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-in, has been testing out missiles and hearing the "back-and-fourth" between Trump and Jong-in is making me sick. All I do is pray to God we will not have a WW3, and to please help these men come to an understanding. There was an article written by the daily mail where it states "North Korea has threatened to turn the US in to a pile of ash if Donald Trump tries to use force to stop Pyongyang's nuclear programme." With our unstable leader acting more like a child than an adult, I'm afraid we are heading towards destruction. I'm afraid not only for me, but everyone around me. How can we raise our children to this type of future? Can't they open a history book, and see that no good will come from this? And when talking about history repeating itself, well we have a perfect example! The Great Depression had occurred in the 30's, but it showed its ugly face once again in the early 2000's. It is still effecting us today! I am currently house hunting, and its so hard to find one that my boyfriend and I can afford. We want to live somewhere that we can have space, and raise our children and dogs and chickens. Its very unlikely we will be able to live anywhere close to San Francisco, and that's tough, because that's where the income is. It would be a wonderful to think we will wake up one day, and there will be no more poverty, and no more starving families on the streets, and no more violence. I would love to see that future happen, but my gut tells me otherwise. History hasn't been pretty, but I believe if we can come together and just listen to each other, then maybe we can have this utopia.
