Chapter 1 & 2

There is so much in history I never knew. As I began reading I realized how far we as a society have come. Our ancestors made so many changes that influenced our ways of living. I found the realm of the spirit to be very interesting. I always knew that animals played an important role to the Egyptians, but I was unaware how far back our connection went. I am very interested in the cave paintings. I constantly watch shows pertaining to the ancient ways of living, and how the spirits were depicted in many ways. It's interesting to hear how women were perceived to men. I was always curious how they were treated, and to hear they were in a way equal, is very interesting. Its also interesting that women gathered 70% of the meals, and it was mainly vegetables and berries. It's funny that our ancestors have been sticking to the same meal plan for thousands of years. Its also interesting to see how small the Paleolithic societies were. I wonder if they ever imagined a life like one we live today. I feel we are always thinking of the future, and how we can change things. I wonder if they thought the same. I wonder if they knew there was so much more in this world.
I was also intrigued to learn that the earliest written language was the Sumerians. I never knew that goods were recorded, but I guess that makes sense. Their ways of profit were by trade, and it would only make sense to record what that was. I also found it interesting to see how far apart the first civilizations were. They seemed to be quite spread out. I wonder what would of happened if they all stayed together. I also wonder if their civilization would of tripled in sized, or cut it in half. It is interesting to think of the possibilities they could of had as a whole unit. Or maybe there would only be devastation and war between the people. There is no way of telling what could of happened in those times. I would like to imagine a world of peace, and no war. I am one for life in the wild, without technology or the busy noise of cars passing. If I could I would find a home in the woods, and find my peace with the wilderness. I was reading how people today still find themselves following our ancestors way of life, and I believe I am on of them.
